  We booked 3 evenings from Wednesday, July 22 to Friday, July 23, 2015 as our honeymoon in Bayfield
  
  Upon arrival, the operator of the restaurant (no one was managing the hotel component) required us to pay in full in advance of our stay. We had given $200 deposit (non refundable as per booking terms and conditions online). This should have been the first indication of a poor hotel operator. I believe that it is illegal to require upfront payment for a hotel in Ontario prior to stay
  
  We were given the keys to our room and it simply was not to our standard of cleanliness and did not meet our expectation
  
  We respectfully notified the restaurant operator of our request to cancel our stay and offered for them to keep our deposit (as per the standard terms and conditions online and on our receipt for purchase of the balance of the stay). He required approval from the owner
  
  The owner appeared 30 minutes later and we respectfully declined his offer to upgrade to other suites. He wanted us to pay for the full upgrade amount and the other rooms were not to our liking. He stated that he would not refund our full payment and stated that the hotel was full for the balance of the week. All the rooms were empty when we were there
  
  The Red Pump a damper on the start of our honey moon and scarred our experience in Bayfield as a whole
  
  All we ask is for our $800.05 balance returned. He may keep our deposit as is legally the hotel's
  
  I have contacted the Huron County (Ontario's West Coast) booking company with no response

  A must if you are in Bayfield... My wife and I had our 17th wedding anniversary dinner at the restaurant. The service was fantastic and the food absolutely delicious. We had and recommend the Chateaubriand and lobster pasta.
